Camp TLC "Faith & Fun"

Our summer camp ran from June 10 thru June 14, 2013. All of the campers were alumni from Hillcrest School, and their ages ranged from 22 - 34 years old.

It was an amazing week filled with faith based lessons. arts & crafts, swimming, all kinds of games, and plenty of snacks.

Some of the campers favorite things were reuniting with old friends, singing, and dancing.

TLC would like to extend a special thank you to Hillcrest School for allowing us to use their facility. Teachers Rick & Lisa Marcello, Patti Barnett, and John Navarez were the perfect pick. Along with Valerie Bozeman, Milena Bravo, and Mandy Brawly. This was the perfect team to work with our special campers.

Thank you to McDonalds, Horse & Hounds, Mike, Linda, & Jean Paglia for donating the lunches for our camp. Daughters of the Holy Cross for donationg breakfast & serving all of our campers with such love.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who gave so freely of their time to make this a summer camp none of us will ever forget

Fundraiser

Auction / Dinner, November 2, 2012

Transitions Life Center is a visionary non-profit project committed to building a community of

acceptance where young adults with physical and mental disabilities can live safe, caring and enriching lives.
Thanks to our many attendees and donors, our 1st annual cocktail party that included a live and silent auction was a big success raising over $30,000.
Those attending our event included local business people, attorneys, judges, physicians, Marion County Public Schools employees, entrepreneurs, parents, brothers and sisters of children with special needs plus many more caring citizens from our community. Attendees enjoyed the food catered by Cindy from Decadence catering, as well as libations from the open bar.
The location for the event was the private residence of Mike & Jean Paglia on 8th Street bordering the Historic District of Downtown Ocala. The home was beautifully decorated for the event with lighted trees donated by Robert Cunningham.
A huge variety of Auction items were generously donated by a multitude of businesses and individuals including Cutter & Cutter Art Galleries of St. Augustine, FL. , Lowes, Bonefish Grill, Ocala Travel, Greiners Fine Men's Apparel , Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Bucs, Hard Rock Cafe, Amerigas, Roger Hunt Jewelers, & many others.
The proposed Transitions Life Center Property Site Plan and Community Center were on display, do-nated by Riddle Consulting Engineers.
MC for the night was TLC Committee Member Darren Ritch. The welcoming speech and introduction of the board was done by Michael Paglia, President of Transitions Life Center and Father of 3 boys with special needs. Mr. Paglia was quoted as saying, "Every parent deserves piece of mind to know there is a place for your child to go and be taken care of as you get older and are unable to care for them your-selves." Mr. Steve MacKenzie, Vice President of TLC shared as a parent and father of a daughter with special needs. Mrs. Lori Manresa, Principal of Hillcrest Public School for Exceptional Students in Marion County and a Director of TLC, shared the need for a safe place that young adults with Special Needs can attend and live after graduation. A place where they can apply the independence and productivity skills they learned in school as well as maintain social contact with others.
TLC would like to extend a special thank you to Len Cutter, of Cutter & Cutter Art Galleries in St. Augustine, FL. for the donation of his lively auctioneering skills that made for an exciting evening in
support of this wonderful community project.
Nancy Thrower, Director
